Zanzibar's coastline is lined with some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Here is our guide to the best ones.
Nungwi Beach (North)
Zanzibar's most famous beach. White sand, clear turquoise water, and stunning sunsets. Plenty of resorts, restaurants, and nightlife. Ideal for couples and party-goers. Snorkeling is excellent at nearby Mnemba Atoll.
Kendwa Beach (Northwest)
Similar to Nungwi but more relaxed. Known for its tide-free swimming (you can swim at any time). Perfect for romantic getaways. Full moon parties are legendary here.
Paje Beach (Southeast)
The kitesurfing capital of Zanzibar. Wide white sand beach with constant trade winds. Great for kitesurfing lessons. More laid-back than the north — think yoga, smoothie bowls, and boutique hotels.
Jambiani Beach (Southeast)
A traditional fishing village with a stunning beach. Authentic Zanzibar experience without the crowds. Great for walking at low tide to see seaweed farms and local life.
Bwejuu Beach (East)
One of the most romantic beaches on the island. Perfect for couples seeking seclusion. The beach stretches for miles with almost no one on it. Watch local dhows sail by at sunset.
